I had a really great Fourth of July weekend.
I spent the day with Shawn and Kathleen, and the three of us went pretty much everywhere.
We even went to the garage where Shawn is keeping his new motorcycle,
and he took Kathleen for a short ride. (She loved it!)
Later on that night, Kathleen and I kept the tradition alive: we played with sparklers!
The next day, Shawn and I went to the beach, where it was warm.
I was finally able to lay out in the sun and not think about anything. ^__^
I brought one of my Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book with me. (I have at least 30 copies.)
I love perfect weekends.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend and your sister might just end up becoming a Biker chick 0_o he! he!
Its good to have traditions and it sounds a lot less dangerous then some of the other fire works.
LOVE the picture where it looks like Kathleen is yelling in your ear the expression on your face and hers priceless!

Yeah, I had a really awesome weekend. I've been shut inside almost every weekend in the past year or so, so it was great being able to change the routine for once. ^___^
Haha, I can totally see Kathleen falling in love with riding on bikes, but I don't know if I could. Shawn has been asking (well, begging) me to ride on his bike with him, but I keep telling him that I won't do that right now. The idea of being on a bike scares me a little. x__x Maybe I'll give it a go sometime around if I get up the nerve!
That photo of Kathleen yelling was my favorite one of the two of us from that day. It's just so expressive, and like you said: priceless. ^_~

you have to try a ride on the bike, if for nothing but to say I did

Alice in Wonderland - I've just finished reading it for a report at school, and it's my newest favorite book, haha!
Sounds like a really fun weekend! Plus, Kathleen rocks in a helmet! \m/

[this is good] [this is awesome] [this is great]
As always, I love your photos. Why the hurk aren't you on iStock? You'd be a bajillionaire.

Great pics as usual.
your right the one of Kathleen yelling in your ear is amazing, and the look on your face priceless, but the one of Kathleen with the helmet on in the power ranger pose so amazing ^-~
glad you had a great July 4th
I celebrated Canada and had a blast too (July 1st)

=p Maybe I'll give it a shot someday.
I know Shawn would be super careful with me there, but I don't know if I have the nerve to get myself to go on one. I feel like such a baby sometimes, haha! But I think I might just need to see him riding the bike more so I can see him getting more experience. Even though he's had his bike license for years now, he hasn't been on a bike a lot before he bought this one.
Thanks for the extra push, Jamie!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has such a great concept. Just thinking about it is mesmerizing. That's cool that you got to read it for school. =D
The copy I just picked up last weekend is the first annotated version so it has some really interesting notes in the margins. I especially like the copy because it's so wonderfully worn and old... I'm trying to get my hands on a first edition (from 1865) but they're rather expensive. x__x I'll have to put aside my dolly savings sometime and snatch one up!

I'd love to get started on iStock... A while back (last summer, I think) Kenn started to help me become more familiar with how the site worked but then I started working for 6A and got too swept up with work!
Hmm, maybe I'll give it a go again? ^__^ I'd love to try that out.
By the way, it's so great to hear from you, Jay. I miss talking with you more!

Yes! Thanks for noticing the photo of Kathleen in the superhero pose. ^__~ Out of all the photos I edited the other day, that one was one of my very favorites. Not only is the pose great, but her facial expression is hilarious. She just looks so happy, and quite proud! Tee hee.
Oh, I hope you had a good holiday in Canada! It's pretty cool that both of our homes can celebrate a holiday so close together. ^^

thanks had a great Canada Day, yeah it's great that both our countries have National Days so close together.
Yeah her expression sells the power ranger photo, it's great

Thanks! *grin* I always have fun taking photos of colorful things-- and then enhancing the photos to show even more color.

Hi hon!! I'm so happy to finally hear from you here on Vox. ^__^ We've all missed you around here! I know you posted a few days ago, but I've been so, so busy lately, it's insane! I honestly thought my life would calm down a lot since I graduated, but it seems I've only found more things to fill up the time with, haha.
I'm glad to hear you had another great 4th! I can't believe how fast the past year has flown by... it seems like last week when you were posting your last sparkler photos of you and Kathleen! Gosh, it's actually starting to scare me how fast time is passing me by.
Anyhow, feel free to message me on gmail or AIM anytime this summer... I'm usually never *too* busy at work, and would love to hear from you. ^^ Glad all is well with you and Shawn... take pictures of your new apartment for me! hehe *hugs*

Oh, of course! No problem. ^__~ I love collecting rare books. One of my most prized possessions is my first edition, first printing of The Virgin Suicides. I can't imagine what it would be like to have an Alice first edition. O__O
Posted by: Lauren | July 08, 2008 at 06:54 PM
That would be soooooooooo cool!!! I would like to collect books too, but maybe someday, when I already have a job. Books can be really expensive, especially the rare ones!

[this is good] I am glad most things seem to be coming together for you from your last post. I moved into my own place a few months ago and the whole "growing up" thing if you know what I mean is scary sometimes. Leaving all you know and what is familiar behind. Starting anew and experiencing new things has been fun and a ride too. I wish you all the best in your future and I know things will work out in the end with your dad. Dad and daughter relationships seem to be very tender but fulfilling. I know mine has been too. Good luck to you and as always exquisite photographs! ^___^
