As mentioned back in a past blog post, I have a huge love for my friend's toy line, Cavey. Since I wrote that post back in June, my Cavey family has grown quite a bit. I have to admit that I've become a pretty big Cavey fanatic ever since I first laid eyes on my sweet Hello Kitty Cavey.
Since June, my collection has grown from one Cavey to about twelve Caveys (with four more on the way)! The whole experience has been extremely exciting for me. I rarely ever get the opportunity to jump in at the beginning of a new toy series to catch a lot of the very first toys released, so knowing that I was able to do that with Caveys is one reason why this Cavey adventure is so exciting. When I showed Mom my Hello Kitty Cavey, she also fell in love with the plushies and has joined in on the collecting fun. The Caveys seen above belong to the both of us. Here's a list of our collection at the moment. (The Caveys with the * by their names belong to me.)
Top row: Ninja Cavey, Unicorn Cavey*, Plain Pink Cavey, Hello Kitty Cavey*, Super Duper Caped Cavey*, Panda Cavey*
Bottom row: Pink Panda Cavey*, Denim Cavey, Pink Strawberry Cavey*, Floral Cavey, Pegasus Cavey, Red Strawberry Cavey
It's always easy for me to pick out favorites from my collections. Like with my Blythe dolls, my favorites are Plum and Pinkachu. (I make my favorites very obvious, as seen in the photos I take!) When it comes to Caveys, my favorites are Hello Kitty Cavey and Pink Strawberry Cavey. I won Pink Strawberry a few weeks ago in an eBay auction that Holly hosted. The auction went a lot higher than I anticipated, but I didn't mind paying a bit more-- the hot pink fabric and kawaii theme was all too enticing!
Pink Strawberry Cavey has all the elements of cuteness that I love. When she arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes. In fact, I had a hard time getting my eyes to focus on her because her pink fabric is that bright. xD She's such a love!
It's been fun having a new hobby to focus on for the past few months. I've only told this to a few close friends, but I thought this would be a good time to share this with more friends and people who read my blog reguarly. Back in June, just a few days before my first Cavey arrived, my sweet hammy, Fru, passed away. She had been suffering for a long time from a huge tumor that had taken over the lower half of her body. Much like my experience with Yukimo, the emotional pain I took on was too much to bear. I couldn't bring myself to tell many people or even think about her passing... so I kept a lot of of my feelings to myself.
So what does this have to do with Cavey...?
The introduction of Hello Kitty Cavey to my life gave me something new and happy to focus on. It helped me get over that initial grief that always takes place after a beloved companion/pet passes away. That's one reason why I have such a love for Caveys; they're very much responsible for my current happiness and they bring a sense of relief to me in any time of sadness. I've come to believe that every little thing in life is connected in one way or another, whether happy or sad, and Cavey is one of those things that can turn any sad situation into something positive and uplifting.
No Cavey ceases to put a smile on my face! I'm very thankful for all of my cuties. I hope to continue to collect them so I can see my little family grow.
In the meantime, Shawn and I are continuing to search for the perfect new hammy for us. We're taking our time; we're in no rush whatsoever. When we do find one, I know it will be fate. ^____^
Edit: Holly dedicated a really wonderful blog post on her site to me and my Cavey collection. I totally squeeeee'd when I read it!
