I don't know about everyone else... but I had a pretty happenin' Thanksgiving. It's the one holiday that my immediate family is in charge of, so that means that we get to host the meal. I'd have to say that everything but the hectic and crazy cleaning part of the day is great. I can deal with one icky part of the day as long as the rest of the day is good.
So, we cleaned, made tons of food, and cleaned some more. In fact, we made and prepared so much food this year that I think this was the most food we've ever put together for a meal. Because my family has been growing (cousins having babies and whatnot), Mom even had to make two huge turkeys-- one purely for leftovers for relatives to take home and one to serve for everyone. Not only that, but we had four pies (cherry, pecan, pumpkin, and apple), one huge chocolate cake, fudge (that I made), jello, and cookies... just for the dessert course. I guess because I had been up and about, helping around the house and with the food the entire day, I never really got a chance to eat a lot myself, ironically enough. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the food though so that made me happy.
The photos in this entry are mostly of Beth, Kathleen and me. We wanted to pass the time for waiting for relatives so I decided to take some photos. We got kind of freaked out that the photos of the three of us turned out so well, because we usually can't capture all of us on a "good day" all at once. I told Kathleen, after showing her the first photo up above, that we look like a girl band or something. It's freaky but pretty cool.
The best part about the day was the surprise I had-- Shawn showing up. He had worked sixteen straight hours the previous day, which meant he was standing the entire time. I told him that I didn't expect him to come because I knew how tired he'd be. Sure enough though, as soon as everyone started to eat, the phone wrang. Shawn was outside on our front porch, waiting to be let in. I was ecstatic. I quickly ushered him in and helped him make a giant plate of food for himself. As if seeing my relatives wasn't enough... Shawn was there to make everything perfect. Mom re-introduced him to everyone (I swear, she's done that about five times already) and I think he felt pretty welcome there.
Shawn and I are about to leave for Jeremy's house. We've had a weekend getaway planned for over a month now. With Jeremy gone at college, we only get to see him every few months, which I know for Shawn is very difficult. Shawn and Jeremy are like brothers so I know it has to be difficult only seeing him every-so-often. We'll be staying there for a while and then the three of us will be heading out for our weekend excursions. I'm so excited. Thanksgiving weekend rocks.
I hope all you Voxers had a great Thanksgiving. It's even better knowing that toveb got her Blythe (Goldie) on the Vox homepage! I was so excited when I saw that. It's about time a Blythe makes it onto the front page.
